What Happens on Solar Installation Day in Adelaide

A step-by-step walkthrough of what to expect when your solar system is installed. From pre-install checks to first-day monitoring.

Most homeowners don't know what happens between 'sign the contract' and 'solar is working.' Here's a complete walkthrough of installation day, and what comes before and after.

Before installation day

After your engineering assessment and system design are signed off, we submit your system design to SA Power Networks for approval. This grid connection application typically takes 5–15 business days. We handle this entirely, you don't fill in a single form.

We also order your specific panels, inverter, and mounting hardware. We don't stock generic inventory and match it to jobs, we order exactly what was specified in your engineering report.

Installation day: what to expect

A standard residential installation runs approximately 6–8 hours. Our team arrives in the morning and completes the full installation in a single day.

The sequence: mounting rails are fixed to the roof (structural anchors, not just screws through the tiles), panels are mounted and wired, the inverter is installed and connected to your switchboard, the system is commissioned and tested, and monitoring is set up so you can watch your system's output in real time.

Your property is cleaned up completely before we leave. No offcuts, no packaging, no debris.

After installation: grid connection

Your system produces power from day one, but grid export is only enabled once SA Power Networks completes their side of the connection, typically 2–5 business days after installation. Until then, you're self-consuming any solar you generate.

We notify you the moment your grid connection is live.

Monitoring your system

Every system we install includes monitoring software, typically through your inverter manufacturer's app. You can see real-time production, daily totals, and export figures. If your system underperforms for any reason, you'll see it.

We check in with every new client after their first full billing cycle to review actual versus projected performance.
